After four years at Cancer Research UK where I was synthesising DNA, I was ready for a change. I wanted to join a company that had a global presence and was focused on developing its people – plus I had come to realise that my real passion was in Information Technology. It was a massive career change, but Linklaters were hugely supportive in helping me make this transition. I was encouraged to attend many internal and external courses, and I quickly found my strengths.

I have now been with Linklaters for 10 years, supporting the firm’s IT systems across the Asia region. A real highlight for me was when I was promoted to Team Leader. I knew it would be a challenge, particularly as the team are spread across the region. Despite the physical distances between us, I needed to build relationships based on mutual trust, but the team rose to the challenge – and I can honestly say that I have made very close friendships in the process.

A good work/life balance is promoted within the business, such as the recently introduced birthday leave. We take great pride in our dragon boat team, and we’re all committed to giving back to society. We’re encouraged to participate in voluntary activities such as supporting underprivileged children, and we collectively take on beach clean-ups.

As one of the leading global law firms, Linklaters is an incredible place in which to pursue your career ambitions. If you are person who is driven, and you are keen to make the most of everything that the firm can offer, then Linklaters will be a good fit for you.
