I took an A-level in Law and I really enjoyed it, so I went on to study Law at the University of York. In my third year, I applied for a Training Contract at Linklaters. I also gained some extra experience with some Vacation Schemes to help with my application.

As a Trainee you need to be well organised and have an overarching picture of the deal you’re working on so that you can really add value. You’re the glue that brings everything together on a deal, and therefore responsible for making sure all the documents are there, correct and signed. You need to check that all the steps required to get the deal over the line have been completed.

I really enjoy the fact that there’s so much to get involved in and the firm supports you and pushes you to try things you find interesting. I’ve done some pro bono work at the firm with the UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group. We get referred asylum cases for LGBT people around the world who are applying for asylum in this country, and we have a 100% success record so far.
