I completed a Masters in International and European Tax Law in Amsterdam before moving to China to work and study. I was there for nearly three years, completing a Master's in Chinese Civil and Commercial law with a Minor in Chinese Language and Culture.

Following my graduation, I moved back to the Netherlands, where I’ve been working for Linklaters since October 2015. There’s a down-to-earth attitude and a can-do mentality here. And the Amsterdam office is relatively small which allows you to really get to know your colleagues.

The work I’m involved in is very diverse. As a Junior Associate, I’m involved in anything from tax advising and document review to implementing investment structures, drafting structure memos, prospectus review and SPA negotiations.

I love the challenging nature of the work. The transactions are complex and often involve multiple jurisdictions. Working with other teams from Linklaters offices around the world means you have to be flexible, coordinating with these others to deliver the best product for the client.

The opportunities for pro bono work are brilliant. I’m about to participate in a project that will see me summarising European refugee and asylum cases for the European Council on Refugees and Exiles. Last year, I attended a refugee dinner to meet and talk with Syrian refugees about their experiences in the Netherlands.

My most enjoyable moment at Linklaters so far has to be finishing my first major transaction. I’d been working at the firm for only two months and was handling a major asset transfer between two companies. We finished just before New Year’s Eve, and I felt proud and fulfilled.
